I suppose that if you don't know me well, you might not find what has upset me. Placing History, Philosophy, and Evolution as OPPOSITE to the Holy Bible....because this is news to me. I went to a Catholic college, where we were taught about evolution, history, and philosophy by Roman Catholic Priests.... Beyond that, this is not what I was taught as a child....what is happening? Is this a new fundamentalist-type Catholicism? Am I the only one that sees this change?
Truth is, I am more confused than upset. Confused because I don't know if this is just my "building" or is this everywhere? I was raised as a child to understand that the Bible was written by MAN, not GOD, this was reinforced in my own CCD and college education, that the Bible was written as way to explain things that were unexplainable at the time. Furthermore the Bible has been translated by MAN, edited and vetted by MAN. Have all my teachers been wrong?

I am sorry I can't be of help, because I agree with you. So much confusion. I for some reason chose to ignore the things I don't agree with and just try to enjoy my church going experience. Is this wrong? Not sure. I feel like God is probably just happy I'm there and experiencing Him in my heart.
I agree with you too and that worksheet would have definitely made me upset had my kids brought it home (not Catholic as you know. BTW...how is a kid supposed to even understand the words "philosophy" and "evolution". And history??? How is that the opposite of religion? I mean,you can study history without ever opposing religious views? That is confusing. Sorry, if it were me, I'd probably take me kid out of those classes...but I'm not Catholic and it isn't that easy is it?
A friend of mine brought up a good point: it may have been chosen by the teacher alone, and not by the Religious Education director. I've sent an email, we'll see. I hope that this was simply an oversight, then there may be no real harm. If it is, however, the views of this particular teacher...that's different.
